Religious Ceremony #1

Dearly beloved, we are gathered together here in the sight of God, and in the face of this company to join together this man and this woman in holy matrimony; which is commended of St. Paul to be honorable among all men; and therefore is not by any to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly; but reverently, discreetly, and soberly. Into this holy estate these two persons present come now to be joined. If any man can show any just cause why they may not lawfully be joined together, let him now speak or forever hold his peace.

[GROOM], will you have this woman to be your wedded wife, to live together after God's ordinance, in the holy estate of matrimony? Will you love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all others, keep only unto her, so long as you both shall live? "I will."

[BRIDE], will you have this man to be your wedded husband, to live together after God's ordinance, in the holy estate of matrimony? Will you love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all others, keep only unto him, so long as you both shall live? "I will."

Who gives his woman to be married to this man? “I/we do.”

[GROOM], would you repeat after me: I, [GROOM], take you, [BRIDE] to be my wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward; for better, for worse; for richer, for poorer; in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God's holy ordinance; and thereto I pledge my fidelity.

[BRIDE], would you repeat after me: I, [BRIDE], take you, [GROOM], to be my wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward; for better, for worse; for richer, for poorer; in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God's holy ordinance; and thereto I pledge my fidelity.

May I have the rings?

O Lord, hear our prayer for [GROOM] and [BRIDE], who today are united in marriage before you. We ask your blessing on these rings which they give to each other as their symbol of love and devotion. We ask this in Jesus name. Amen.

[GROOM], would you place your ring on [BRIDE]'s finger as you say, "with this ring I pledge my love."

[BRIDE], would you place your ring on [GROOM]'s finger as you say, "with this ring I pledge my love."

Let us pray.

O eternal God, creator and preserver of all mankind, giver of all spiritual grace, the author of everlasting life; send your blessing upon these your servants, this man and this woman, whom we bless in your name; that, as Isaac and Rebekah lived faithfully together, so these persons may surely perform and keep the vow and covenant made between them, and may ever remain in perfect love and peace together, and live according to your laws; through Jesus Christ our lord. Amen.

"Those whom God has joined together, let no man put asunder."

For as much as [GROOM] and [BRIDE] have consented together in holy wedlock and have witnessed the same before God and this company, and thereto have given and pledged their fidelity, each to the other, and have declared the same by the giving and receiving of rings; I pronounce that they are husband and wife.

May the Lord bless you and keep you;
May the Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.
