Civil Ceremony #3

We gather here today to join [GROOM] and [BRIDE] in the honorable estate of matrimony. Marriage is a commitment that requires and deserves daily attention. It should be a life-long dedication to the virtue of loving kindness, backed with the will to make it last on both partners’ behalf. Therefore, marriage should not be entered into lightly or without due consideration, but with discretion and respect for the commitment it involves and with free will and full accord. Therefore, I ask each of you...

[GROOM], do you come to this union of your free will and with full intent to be faithful in marriage to [Bride] as long as you both shall live? If so, please say, "I do." (I do.)

And, [BRIDE], do you come to this union of your free will and with full intent to be faithful in marriage to [GROOM] as long as you both shall live? If so, please say, "I do." (I do.)

Please turn to face each other and join hands as you pledge your vows.

[GROOM], please vow to [BRIDE] by repeating after me:

I, [GROOM], take you, [BRIDE] to be my lawfully wedded wife... I promise from this day forward to be your faithful husband... for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer... in sickness and in health, for as long as we both shall live.

[BRIDE], please vow to [GROOM] by repeating after me:

I, [BRIDE], take you, [GROOM] to be my lawfully wedded husband... I promise from this day forward to be your faithful wife... for better, for worse; for richer, for poorer... in sickness and in health, for as long as we both shall live.

Do you have rings to exchange as a token of your vows? (We do.)

The wedding ring seals the vows of marriage just as a signature bears witness to a written covenant. As a token of your vows, will you now give and receive the rings.

[GROOM], please place the ring on [BRIDE]’s finger and repeat after me: With this ring, I pledge to you my honor and my love... Let it be a symbol of our marriage made here this day.

[BRIDE], please place the ring on [GROOM]’s finger and repeat after me: With this ring, I pledge to you my honor and my love... Let it be a symbol of our marriage made here this day.

Insomuch as the two of you have consented to join in marriage, have pledged your love with vows and sealed these vows with the exchange of rings, you have entered into the honorable estate of matrimony. Therefore, I now pronounce you Husband and Wife.
